Sunbury United faced a disappointing result in the round 3 fixture against Springvale White Eagles in the Australia Cup. Despite putting in a valiant effort, the final score saw Springvale White Eagles progressing to Round 4.
In the first half, Sunbury United had the best chances of scoring the opener but was let down by a lack of precision near the goal. The second half saw Springvale taking the lead on a set-piece with I. Kasukulu finding the back of the net in the 69th minute. Ten minutes later, K. Peluso doubled the lead for Springvale, leaving Sunbury United with an uphill battle.
However, Sunbury United found the strength to get back into the game with a great header from Lee Mois in the 86th minute. The last few minutes of the game saw Sunbury United pushing for the equalizer but unfortunately couldn't find the back of the net.
Despite the disappointing result, Sunbury United played a great game and took the match to Springvale throughout the 90 minutes. The team can hold their heads up high knowing they put in a solid performance, despite the odds.
With the Australia Cup behind us, Sunbury United is now looking forward to the start of the season with their first league match scheduled on the 18th of March against Diamond Valley United.
